Doug and Danette both grew up in the Church of God, Doug in Oregon and Danette in California. They met while attending Warner Pacific College. Doug graduated with a music education degree, while Danette earned her degree in elementary education. Doug has since gained his master’s degree in education from Portland State University.

While attending Warner Pacific College, Doug and Danette became close friends. A year after graduating, they began to date and were married in 1988. Over the years, they have been very active in ministry—Doug has served as music minister, and both Doug and Danette have led Bible studies and directed children’s musicals. A church work camp in Costa Rica opened the eyes of the Beisley family to cross-cultural ministry. Soon after, they felt God’s call to full-time missions. The need for assistance in New Zealand matched abilities that the Beisleys could provide, and God confirmed this match many times.

The Beisleys have served at the Westside Christian Fellowship church in New Zealand since December 2004. They have worked as children’s pastors, led Bible clubs, conducted vacation Bible school, and taught the Marriage Course, as well as various other activities. They work closely with the church and special assignment missionaries Chad and Diane Davenport to raise up and train new leaders in the church and expand the ministry of the New Zealand church.

Doug and Danette’s children are also very involved in ministry. Alex helps with the setup crew and runs the worship software; Allison helps with toddlers and children and often bakes for weekly church dinners; and Robert helps with setup and plays drums for worship. It is definitely a family ministry!
